**Richmond Law Students Triumph in Mock Trial and Essay Competitions**
Richmond Law's team of students won the [[http://www.tjsl.edu/node/878 National Labor and Employment Mock Trial Competition]] in Chicago over the weekend of January 24. Team members **Jeannine Panzera**, **Scott Jones**, **Kristen Wright** and **Hank Gates** defeated the University of Oregon in the competition's final round. In earlier rounds they also won against teams from Southern Methodist University, Roger Williams and Duquesne. A total of 69 schools competed in the competition. Adjunct Professor of Law and Director of Special Programs **Paul Thompson** was their coach.
Second-year Richmond Law student **David McGill** is the author of the first place winning [[http://www.rushessay.com essay]] in the 11th writing competition sponsored by the [[http://www.grammy.com/ GRAMMY Foundation]] and the [[http://www.law.smu.edu/studentaffairs/writingcompetitions/ARCHIVE_2008EntertainmentLawInitiativeWritingCompetition.aspx Entertainment Law Initiative]] (ELI). Along with a scholarship award, McGill is invited to present one of his [[http://www.rushessay.com/custom_essay.php essays]], "//New Year, New Catch-22: Why The RIAA's Proposed Partnership With ISPs Will Not Significantly Decrease The Prevalence Of P2P Music File Sharing//," at the prestigious ELI Luncheon & Scholarship Presentation on February 6 and to attend the GRAMMY awards the following evening.
